Our scanners are high performance laser film digitizers designed especially for diagnostic teleradiology requirements. They are self calibrating, have excellent density resolution and precision, and spatial resolution to match the demanding needs of high resolution teleradiology. Our scanners convert films sized from 8" x 10" to 14" x 17" into digital images of 2048 pixels x 2200 lines. Each pixel is assigned a digital value equal to 1000 x OD (optical density at that point). For example, any point on the film with an optical density of 2.5 would be assigned a pixel value of 2200. The actual pixel range is from 0 to 3800 (optical density 3.8) in OD increments of .001. The precision is unique and critical when clinical information may only be apparent if small changes in density must be visualized (pneumothorax, interstitial lung disease, subtle fracture, etc.). Our software has been especially designed to meet the high standards set by The American College Of Radiology. The above equipment and software is used daily to provide our radiologists with the necessary tools in order to diagnose life threatening illnesses.
